Could I have an "official" response on the relative appropriateness of the above versus: cd /usr/share/mediawiki/maintenance php update.php At one time, following Jan's advice was not likely to work and running the script after cd-ing to the appropriate directory would work. Now I see more people suggesting Jan's version of the command. Is it the intent of Mediawiki developers to ensure that _all_ scripts should run from any directory if the path to the script is provided as part of the argument to php?
