I ran into the problem when I compiled my own version of lua to change the version number[1], but the version number didn't show up on Special:Version. It turns out that `lua -v` is output on STDERR but that wasn't captured. Of course, if someone could look over my suggested patch to resolve T366824[2], that would help, too. Thanks! Mark.
