Dear Wikivoyage Community, Wikimania 2025 is just around the corner! From August 6-9, 2025, with a pre-conference on August 5, we will gather in Nairobi, Kenya, to celebrate 20 years of Wikimania. This year’s theme, “Wikimania at 20: Inclusivity. Impact. Sustainability.”, invites us to reflect on and contribute to the ways our community fosters inclusivity, drives meaningful impact, and ensures the sustainability of our efforts.
We are thrilled to announce that the Call for Program Proposals is now open and will run until March 31, 2025. We invite YOU to share your knowledge, ideas, and experiences by submitting session proposals—whether you plan to join us onsite in Nairobi, present remotely from your home or workplace, or contribute through a pre-recorded presentation. You can submit your proposals here: Wikimania 2025 Program Submission Site. https://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/2025:Program As avid contributors to Wikivoyage—a project dedicated to providing freely licensed travel information accessible in many languages—we believe you have unique insights to enrich this year’s program. To help spark ideas, here are a few topics that may align with the conference theme: ● How travel content in Wikivoyage can support inclusivity in global knowledge-sharing. ● Strategies for engaging local communities to ensure the sustainability of Wikimedia travel projects. ● The impact of collaborative travel knowledge on bridging cultural divides. For inquiries, comments, or assistance with your proposal, please email [email protected]. Our team of dedicated volunteers will be happy to guide you. Additionally, to support you in developing your proposals, the Programme Subcommittee will host a consultation hour: 📅 Today, Thursday, 20 March 🕐 13:00 UTC (Find your local time at https://zonestamp.toolforge.org/1742475600) 🌐 Video Call Link: https://wikimedia.zoom.us/j/84172058297 💬 Live Interpretation Available in Arabic, French, and Swahili Let’s make Wikimania 2025 an unforgettable event by bringing your unique perspectives and ideas to the global stage.
