I am not sure what I am missing here as I do pick this template up as File/New
but when I go to paste in the "signature" it says "You cannot put drawing
objects into a text box, callout, comment, footnote, or endnote".
Jerry.

<< >Once I lock the sheet I was unable to copy and paste a picture (free hand
 >signature) into it as it said it I can't paste in a drawing as it isn't
 >text or
 >any of the few other options I could have made that input box.

You save the form out as a template [*.dot] file then close that file. If
you saved the template properly then it should be listed. Go to Menu &
select File/New & you should see all the templates including the one you
created. When you click on the template it should open a new file with the
template as a background. No insert your pic. If everything moved to
accommodate the pic then you need to right click on the pic & select Format
Picture then click the Layout tab & on that page you can see how text & etc
can wrap around the pic or go right thru the pic. If that's not enough you
can click the Advanced button in the lower right hand corner of that page
 & it lists more options.

FWIW this is for Word 2k3 & is approximately the same for Word Xp aka Word
2k2.
