Was looking at the Plextor Premium CD-RW vs. Plextor W5224TA/SW CD-RW on
Buy.com. Both have the same speeds (at least as far as I can tell.). The
Premium has this feature called GIGAREC: which allows high capacity storage
of up to 1GB on a 700 MB disc. With this advanced feature, you can increase
the maximum writing capacity up to 40%.

My question is has anyone used this feature? Does it really work like it
says. Can burnt CD-Rs then be read on standard CD-ROMs on other systems or
must one use the Plextor drive to read the burnt CD-R?

The price difference on buy.com is $72 vs. $68. Don't mind paying the extra
$5 if the feature can be used on other systems. Since I will be making CD-Rs
to do work on client's puters. But if it only works on this Plextor
model....it is not worth it for me.

Also, it comes with bundled software which I will through away since I use
Nero exclusively. Does anyone know if I can get it cheaper (OEM in plastic
wrap, etc.) for less money? None of my wholesalers, sell the Plextor line.
My other choice was Liteon but none of my wholesalers sell the models of
Liteon anymore that I would use. Two years ago, that was all they were
pushing.
