I've done it many times on all sorts of systems & haven't seen a problem yet EXCEPT once when a front usb connector was wired backwards to the mobo & that killed the usb flashdrive but didn't hurt the system at all. Good thing it was the free one from MSFT that I lost otherwise. Recently I got a 1g Sandisk Mini Cruzer from a client. I can't see some one copying 1g of data all at once to the darned thing as it takes too long. I hear 2g models are expected out shortly if they aren't already.
