Yes, the program is free.  The sale of manuals is the only way they 
paid for some of the work.  Manuals used to be paper.  I bough them 
twice and declined the copies :-)  

Pegasus has a following among the "more PC literate" crowd, since 
it's a bit more involved to set up.  It also has tons of options and 
its own SPAM filters, which you can build on.  Can be linked to AVG, 
with a plugin, as well.  Has it's own spell checker, etc.  A new 
version is to come out soon.

There's a very  responsive support group, where you can get an answer 
quicker, than you could look it up.
