NO, that's *not* the way Pegasus works. By default, when you click "Send" in
the new message, it's put into a queue. It's not transmitted to the server
until you click the "Send all queued mail" icon on the toolbar, or choose
File|Send all queued mail.
It's set that way by default to work with dial-up connections. In that
situation, you want to be able to read and respond to all the messages you
downloaded the last time you were connected, then upload all the new mail at
once.
To change that, use Tools|Internet Options, click the "Sending(SMTP)" tab,
and check the box marked "Send mail at once without placing in queue".
BTW, the Pegasus Mail mailing list that you referred to is *very* good, and
highly recommended.
