I thought that was called a Receiver.
(When used in this Hi-Fi context...)

Not all things that are combined into a single unit are bad either, Chuck. There are some darned nice receivers out there & now a days many of them do video high definition switching as well as audio switching.

Makes me think of video on a mombo. Laptops have been doing this very well for years so why can't desktop machines? </rhetorical>

What audiophile type equipment has to do with software bundling I don't know. The closest I can think of is if some one bought an audio receiver because of the few audio CDs that came with it. If that's the reason one bought the receiver then they're already in trouble. Whether the CDs are audio or data that are bundled they should be considered at best the cherry on top of the sundae & nothing more, not even as icing on the cake.
