I get them from a local monthly computer fair, can't recall the make
offhand. Ever checked event viewer for IDE errors :) ? Regardless, the
error advised replacing the cables, so I swapped them for standard
80-pins & the errors went away. However, you may have a valid point, as
my neighbour had the same issue/fix with leads from the same source
