So you are saying you were able to schedule an incremental backup without having to first do a scheduled or manual full backup? If not then my comments stand. It may work fine after that fact, however the fact that it can't do that from the beginning is NOT ACCEPTABLE. When I look at a backup solution I expect to be able to preschedule the necessary tasks. A backup that can't do that requires more onsite time and babying. IMO a backup should effectively be set and forget friendly, BackitUP doesn't fall in that category unless they've made recent changes. CAVEAT: set and forget in the sense of it actually doing the backups with minimal user intervention other than reading the logs and changing media. Doing random and regular test restores is also a critical component of any backup system. The job scheduling is a joke in the program. I've used literally dozens of backup programs from single user to enterprise level (on both windows and unix) and ALL allow you to easily schedule full and incremental jobs withtout having to first run any backups. > I have had a ton of problems with Roxio's stuff. Don't get me wrong, the Nero folks makes a great writing and entry level media/authoring programs (I own 2 copies of their 6.x suite and I recommend it to all my clients), however their backup program when compared to pretty much any other backup program out there leaves a lot to be desired, especially in the ease of use category. This is one of the areas where I feel folks should by 2 different programs, one for backup and one for dvd/cd writing. -- Harondel J.
