Is this computer being networked or is it using internet connection
sharing? I've seen some computers, in this situation, have all their
network properties changed back to default after installing SP2 or
running any of the wizards.

Yea, well, when I did that, I could not get IE6 or Mozilla Firefox to
connect with any website, so I removed it. Any ideas on that??

You're better off installing SP2 and getting it over with IMHO. :-)

One more thing. I can manually download each update.
Subject: All windows updates failing
Just got my daughter's PC from her. Ran all spyware, defragged, cleaned out
temp files, ran virus programs, and have not gone to XPSP2 yet. Using Pro
edition. All attempts from Windows Update screen fail. Cannot find any info
on M$ website. Anyone have a solution?? Simply says that each attempt has
failed. Goes through all of the dialog boxes, but fails.
Thankx
Jim
