Tsk, tsk & I thought you were an XpPe Professional. ;-)

Normally, the first thing I do is boot up a BartPE or XPPE CD... (I even had BartPE installed on the HD as one of the Multi-Boot options.)

Windows (including BartPE and XPPE) refuse to "see" that drive now,
and I was hoping the "damage" would be overlooked by the NTFS
Drivers used in a Linux distro...
Some of my Acronis Boot CDs "can" see stuff, but are the wrong
programs (or versions) to do anything with the drive...
I "did" get two DVDs of VERY important stuff off the drive before
it stopped being seen by Windows.

Sometimes, when a drive in "this condition" is re-formatted, it passes
the Maxtor re-certification with "flying colors" so I know something
"can" be on there if I look hard enough... <grin>

I have been practicing on some "other" HDs with some of the Linux
Live-CDs I just downloaded to see what I can see so when I hook
up the "bad drive" I can get "in and out" quick...

I need some distro of that type that will come with a hard drive utility
pre-installed that will allow looking at, and hopefully recovering files
from a "bad", non-booting WinXP-Pro NTFS BASIC drive with
no compression or encryption...
