There are a number of "Gotcha's" here !!
1st. The print head is part of the printer, and not (for all intents)
replaceable.
2nd. Some of the Epson ink tanks have chips (ic's) in them. Once you
remove them from the printer, empty or not, they won't work again.
You can get a chip re-setter, if you can find one, that will re-set
the chip, and allow the printer to function again.
3rd. If the printer has been out of use for some time, it is very
likely that ink has dried in the print heads.
4th. The ink used can be obtained from various sources. It is vital
that you use EPS ink. Other ink will cause all sorts of problems.
5th. The chip re-setter will not work on re-manufactured or non
Epson branded tanks. The chips on non Epson brand tanks are
designed to only re-set the printer tank sensor "Once" and cannot be
reused.
These are also the reasons that I recommend that people do not buy a
printer with built in print heads !!
I agree, and have stopped recommending Epson printers.
Does anyone know of a reference that lists which printers have the
print head included as part of the replaceable ink cartridge?
