MsWord sometimes gets confused when it finds and tries to look at recovery files - so try hiding them in a subdirectory while you try MsWord again ( look under your version of C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp )
Or - use the MSWord File Open and set type to 'Recover Text From Any File' (Boy can you see some interesting things in files using that mode) As a last resort you can rename the files to type .txt and try Wordpad to copy and paste bits you can recognise into a new file (renaming the type stops wordpad trying to open the file as if it was a valid MSWord file JimB. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jerry Guritzky" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, April 26, 2005 11:54 PM Subject: Re: Word 2K Wacky > Save it using Save As and then try and bring that saved document in and if > that fails see if you can find any of the intermediate saves that Word did for > you along the way, they usually have file names that begin with a squiggle > (~WRL). > Jerry. > > << it is stalling at the pencil writing in the notebook.
