Another time I've noticed it is when I put in a URL, like garlic.com and don't
put in the http://......I just did it and it brought up the "dial-up connect"
dialog box/menu......but it didn't check "work offline", though. When I added
the http:// to the start of the URL, it connected without incident.
The "dial-up" part of that notification bothers me. Doesn't your
Internet connection come in on your LAN or network interface card?
If so, in Control Panel (or IE/Tools), go to Internet Options, Connections tab,
select "Never dial a connection."
