If the Volume Control under Multimedia under Accessories & Utilities isn't
checked then put one there. When you do then say Ok all the way out to the
desktop it will ask you for your Windows CD so it can install the necessary
files. You will not have to worry about which files but will also include
the SndRec32.exe which affects the microphone. Then go to the Control
Panel/Sound and Audio Devices/ the Volume tab & halfway down is "Place
volume icon in the taskbar".
