Sorry to say this but I must take offence at this statement. Are you frightened that you couldn't "read" the road and have an accident is I was travelling at 90? Here in the UK we drive a lot faster than you folks in the US but, I think, statistics show that there are far fewer accidents connected to speed in the UK than the US. Most of "your" problems come from the fact that (and it's gleaned from personal experience not gov' papers) you have been so brainwashed in the 60's and 70.s and 80, with the 55mph limit brought in on a pretext of fuel saving. Because of this and the way you guys are "law abiding" without question (well not many questions) you tended to roll over belly up and give in. We too have our problems. 70mph limits everywhere but nobody takes any notice unless there is a camera about. Reckless - maybe but when I go to work 80% of the cars I am following are travelling @ 100mph +. In Germany there is no speed limit on the motorways (freeways) and the only offence is dangerous driving... So that means everyone drives a bit more aware of the safety aspects that is why many makers limit the cars to 155 unless you have a racing licence then you can get it derestricted. Totally off topic I know. Only the other day on the radio there was moaning that the AA motoring organization has published a map of all the fixed camera sites and the moans were that it enables drives to slow when needed to - which is exactly correct as the black spot it helps keep safe is safe due to reduced speed and there are not more accidents where there are no cameras and speed is higher so they do their job.
