System Preferences/Sharing/Personal File Sharing, and Windows Sharing. Ensure that it is checked and turned on. Same for the firewall tab in sharing. To test your connection in the Mac Finder use the Go menu/Connect to Server/ and type; smb://192.xxx.xxx.xxx, or whatever your IP that you wish to connect to is (watch your slashes, they need to be forward as this is UNIX).

Regarding the printer you will need to down load the correct HP drivers for OS X for this printer.
