No offence to Wayne, but I build basic no-frills BartPE CDs that are REALLY
meant for low-end machines... (OR, think of it as a "one size fits all"...)
I "think" I can go as low as 32M ram... This is obviously extremely limited,
and not good for much... Booting, Chkdsk, and Nero5-(full version), IIRC...
(A basic data recovery setup that is for good working hardware...)
If you can go that low I'd like to see what you've put together in more
detail. Would you care to upload what you have or at least the ini files to
my FTP server ? Feel free to write me off list. If I turn off the ramdisk
on my basic builds I can see going down to 64meg but 32 would be pushing
it. Without a ram drive many apps won't run as I assume you've discovered.
There is still the problem that many 98 machines can't boot from cdrom
drives tho or haven't you encountered that at all ? For me working with 98
machines is not a major concern as most of my clients have upgraded in the
last 5 yrs although I do have a 98 machine in the shop as we speak.
