I never did try downloading the most up to date drivers. That might be the solution. Since the nVidia connections worked, I went with them. I remember that updated Sil drivers for the GA-7NNXP mobo corrected a problem I was having at the time. As I said, if the situation comes up, it will be time to spend the time to troubleshoot the Sil SATA connection. > Jim there is Xp64 drivers at the Gigabyte site for your K8N > Ultra 9 at > <http://www.giga-byte.com/Motherboard/Support/Driver/Driver_GA > -K8N%20Ultra-9.htm> Thanks for the info. I did a quick perusal when Marc asked the question and didn't see anything at that time. > I used Artic Silver 3 with mine since the HSF that I > purchased didn't come > with a thermal pad & I've not had any problems with too much > heat or rather > my computer hasn't had any problems. ;-) > ----------+---------- > Wayne D. Johnson > Ashland, OH, USA 44805 > <http://www.wavijo.com> > I have recently been investigating undervolting the Vcore voltage to help with overheating on my GA-7NNXP/XP 3200+ system. By default, the motherboard ups the AMD suggested Vcore of 1.65 by 0.05 volts (probably anticipating that most will try to overclock!). I am currently testing at 1.55 volts and am seeing the cpu temp drop about 5 degrees C. It's the difference between running warm (for the XP 3200+) and sounding the alarm at 65 (although the XP 3200+ has a max temp of 85, I would just as soon stay on the downside in case the temperature readings are off). This is a problem only on the hotter summer days when the inside temperature exceeds about 80-85 degrees F. Thanks for the info and suggestions.
