Rick,
How does Nero know that I have a hacked firmware and how does that alter
what you said Nero is reading from the disk?
You said, and I quote, "... blank DVDs are VERY different from CD-R in that
they
include all sorts of ATIP info for the drive to read to see what it can,
(and can't) do with each disk."
I think that Nero is simply reflecting what the DRIVE says it can do with
that particular disk, NOT what the disk says it is capable of doing. A
subtle difference, but one that allows the hardware manufacturer to check
different types of disks and create a write strategy that works, i.e., burn
Ritek 4x disks at 8x. Before I loaded the hacked firmware, my Pioneer 108
would allow me to write, with Nero, 4x +R disks at 12x speeds.
JMHO using the observations and information I have. You, of course, may
disagree and I have no problem with that either :)
P.S. I am top posting (I usually bottom post unless replying to a reply with
top posting, ... can't we all just get along!), so I am sure half the list
will ignore this message ;)
