The whole point of line by line is so the quotes are not "in lieu of what
was or is being said" & I don't know how they could be interpreted that way,
In no way should line by line be taken personal but rather as a matter of
preference. I have no problem with some one caring enough to make sure that
what they're replying to is accurate.
None of this matters just as long as we can tell who quoted said what. Use
what ever style you like but I have a hard enough time eating my own words
without having to eat some one else's too.
