Hi Tony

I don't have a real problem just minor annoyances. I have almost FULL
access to just below admin. This is because the XP-pro has been modded for
the RM netwrok that is used in most UK schools. (Brief history - Research
Machines - RM - designed or nicked a DOS/Unix style computer called the
Z480 and when IBM came out with the PC and the 8086 processor (2 x 8080
back to back) they grabbed the 80186 that was going spare and used the
ability to address or access over 1Mb RAM. This was called the PC186 and
was sold to the Inner London Education Authority as the best thing since
sliced bread (what a load of crap). It ran DOS and most PC style progs at
the time and even had an emulator or rather a special version of BBC Basic
(6105 processor) so met with schools running BBC (Acorn) machines too and
RM quickly backdorred into the education market and gaind a dictatorship as
strong as Saddam's was)

However, I digress... I can install, uninstall adn do any number of things
an admin account can do even set up internet connections etc.

But.....! Before I had the wi-Fi network adaptor installed I could simply
plug into my home netwrok and connect to the internet automatically or
locat any one of my other machines by putting it's address in explorer such
as <//challenger2> and bingo --- there it was.

Now the dammed thing just won't be recognised by my router although the
laptop lights flash as though it's trying and the info says bytes sent -
recieved is very minimal as though the router is saying "piss off".

Can't get to the bottom of this bit and my IT guy says they have not done
anything to the computer except install the Belkin WiFi card.

Weird????????????????
