If you are not especially familiar with Outlook 2003 Harondel (this is OL2003m right?), I would encourage you to be very thorough with checking that the view hasn't been changed.
I've seen probably a dozen cases with these same symptoms, and despite the users swearing blind that nothing had been changed or applied, it was a modified view every single time. Because 2003 handles views very differently to prior versions, it is well worth double checking.
