Since I rarely shut FF down and consequently don't have to start it very often, 
I really haven't looked into ways to enhance the start up. It is NOT machine 
specific; I run both FF and IE6, both latest editions and both fully patched, 
and it is the same on 3 different machines. They ARE all running Win XP Pro 
SP2, and again, with all updates, so that is a commonality.


Open up Firefox and type 'about:config' into the address bar . You should then get a page full of settings.

Find the setting browser.turbo.enabled and toggle it to true. Close and reopen FF.

This is supposed to speed up the startup of FF.
