I tried to make clear that Roxio stated that is an "all or nothing"
situation...  Try disabling it if you want, but part of the problem
is that the drivers will still run uncontrolled in the background.
I "think" you will only be killing the GUI interface program.
The "key" here is that you need to stop the drivers to have
any valid cause and effect relationship.

Disclaimer: I am only repeating what I saw them post as information
on their own tech support list. I do not use this type of software.

Intention was to temporarily remove them from the list of probable causes of
the problem
(I.E stop them persistently looking for RW platters in the drive(s))
