Wayne,
I did realize that it was not HDTV capable but did answer the original question whether it could be done with satellite. I did some surfing last night and did locate the MyHD card and will look at the Fusion as well because all I want to do is send this to the PC.

BTW, I believe that Dish is doing very similar things that Direct TV does. Going to be interesting when all their new satellites are operational to see what is offered. I understood that Dish has 6 or 7 new ones. Not sure, though.

Thanks for you response and you helped clear up some of the mystery.

Jeff

God bless our folks in NO and surrounding states.

Not sure, but that may not be entirely true. Could you look at this link and tell me what you all think? I am not very well versed in this area but would be very interested in the HD thing to monitor as it would be much less expensive than buying a new TV and converter.

It does NOT say one word about HD [high definition] & it says nothing about DirecTV. All it mentions is the word "digital". Contrary to the DirecTV ads digital does NOT mean quality. One can have crappy digital signal just like you can have a crappy analog signal. If you check out this at <http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=574810> you see that DirecTV is planning on changing their HDTV transmission standards [I wonder how much that will cost me?] to Mpeg4 & plans to add 150 national HD channels by 2007.

If one is new to an area of technology may I suggest that person go very slowly reading & digesting as much as possible before making the leap. If you're looking for HDTV reception on your PC Monitor & can recommend a MyHD or FusionHD card as seen at http://www.digitalconnection.com/ May I also warn you that if you get the Fushion card that you will NOT be able to send the output to a HD ready TV like you can with a MyHD card but you will be able to view HDTV on your computer monitor.

In the near future HD ready TV sets & HDTV receivers will be falling in price fairly quickly & even DirecTv is now selling their HDTV PVR at only $499 versus the $1000 I listed earlier.
