All that said, I will reiterate that satellite is NOT broadband,
and while I find it immensely preferable to the dial up I endured
for 10+ years, I would drop it in a second for true broadband of
almost any flavor.
Not to quibble about terminology, but when I had DirecWay satellite
two years ago, I consistently got 800 kbps downloads. That should
seem to qualify as "broadband". To be sure, there are problems with
upload speed, weather (locally and at the NOC), latency, and the
Fair Access Policy (FAP) which limits large downloads.
