If anything, use the entries in the cache to decide what you should get your
defragmenter program to physically cluster on the drive
(Assuming your defragmenter has that facility, and then use base filename
with wildcard for the directory)

Most drives nowadays, and the Windows OS can do a thing called read-ahead,
where the drive reads a full track, and all that is stored in the windows
'disk read' cache

Theory is that when the next bit of a big file is wanted it is already in
memory

But it also works, to a lesser extent with multiple files on the same track
of the disk drive
