I have a P4-3GHz XP HOME SP2 machine with 512 megs RAM. It has the C
drive and a DVD burner as Masters and 2 200gig 7200 rpm ATA drives as
slaves.
If I play a video or audio file that is sitting on the C drive, it plays
fine. If I copy it to either slave, playback stutters. If I remove the
slave from this machine and put it into another machine as a slave, it
plays back fine.
Why would this machine have a problem playing back from a slave? The
drive seems ok, since it works fine even in an older, slower machine
(P3-933 XP SP2 512 meg RAM).
