I too think the CPU is OK if the system runs fine after re-boot.
(I thought the system was slow all the time. Where'd I get that?)
A slow boot may be caused by the operating system searching for a hardware
or software component that's corrupted or missing or damaged or loose, among
a lot of other things.

I'd consider taking a blue pill and re-installing the OS.
Of course I'd back up all my goodies before proceeding.
That's just me.
I find it's faster than hunting down problems sometimes.
I'd remove all non-essential hardware as a first try, tho.

These kinds of problems drive me to drink.
Guess that's why I don't mind them too much.

It is >>running fine IF I do not reboot.<< During reboot it ran so slow I
didn't think I'd get windows back up, thought it needed the little blue
pill. So, I am scared to shut down again, which I'll need to do eventually.
In the meantime I'm going to bed. Sweet dreams gang and thanks for all the
help...

Lona, that makes it sound to me like it may NOT be a CPU problem.
