It's now a Symantec 'supported' product
if the process fails then you can lose all the directory structuring, and
the real filenames
I fully agree. The subscriber who says Partition Magic is ok etc. evidently
has not seen his whole hard drive (after running a Partition Magic
procedure) shown with the label BAD. No matter how many partitions your hard
drive had to begin with, the end result can be your hard drive as being
shown as one partition and labeled as BAD. I have seen this more than once.
I like your suggestion of running each procedure after you select it. This
could very well eliminate 90% or more of the ruining of your data by
Partition Magic.
The time it takes for Partition Magic to move data around when you split or
merge or resize partitions is in direct proportion to the amount of data on
each source and target partition and the slack space. If you have only 20%
of the partition filled with data naturally the moving of data will go much
faster.
