Success comes to he who is patient, very patient. lol I've now got the old Win98 (only) Mita laser printer working with Virtual PC. It took reading material at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;833132 especially this: Use the LPT1 setting in Virtual PC If you have a printer that is installed on the parallel port of your physical computer, associate the emulated port on the virtual machine with a parallel port on the physical computer, and then print from the virtual machine to your printer. To configure the LPT1 port for a virtual machine, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the virtual machine. Note: Some settings for the virtual machine cannot be changed while the virtual machine is running or in a saved state. 2. In the Virtual PC Console window, click the virtual machine that you want to check, and then click Settings. 3. In the Settings dialog box, click LPT1. 4. Under LPT1, click Physical parallel port, and then click the name of the port in the list. Note: You can only use LPT1 on the host as a physical parallel port. >I had a couple of problems in the OS installation phase: first... >second, the Win2000 setup (which did start) wanted to erase everything >on the hard drive and indicated a size more like the physical hard drive >than a virtual drive. Since I wasn't certain about this I stopped until I do >some more reading. Apparently the "format" process of a Virtual PC drive is normal and nothing to worry about. I now have a Win98 installation on the system physical hard drive and Win2000 on a USB external hard drive. Both seem to work fine. Transferring files from one OS to another is very easy. So far it is thumbs up to Virtual PC. Next on my list is using a modem within a VPC OS, either Win98 or Win2000. -- cheers, Stephen -- ---------------------------------------- WIN-HOME Archives: http://PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM/archives/WIN-HOME.html Contact the List Owner about anything: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Official Win-Home List Members Profiles Page http://www.besteffort.com/winhome/Profiles.html
