The card has three possible modes for authentications:
1) WECA compliant
2) auto based on WEP
3) shared with WEP
But either the Westell is not broadcasting or the NIC is not
receiving. Doesn't that have to occur before we authenticate?
I don't know what WECA compliant is as I've never heard of it. I
suppose you could Google for it. But this confirms what I've been
saying. If I offer my hand out for a handshake & you don't even offer
to return your hand then there is no chance of a handshake & that's
what you have now. One has Wep enabled while the other does Not. I'd
enable WEP with the minimum encryption available on both & see if you
can get them to at least shake hands.
OK, I have a connection. Here's the configuration:
WPC NIC
WECA compliant
No WEP or other authentication
Westell
Security disabled.
Now, I would like to get some security on this. Westell offers these
WPA-PSK or
WEP (Open system or shared key)
The WPC offers
WECA complaint (always .....)
Auto based on WEP
Must use shared with WEP
Should I try open system and auto?
