Did a bootlog, but it stopped at a strange place. I still mess with win98 for that reason - you can still fix many things, if you have quick fingers at the C prompt. I've only been beaten a couple of times, where I had to re-install :-) Of course if the HD looses crucial data, I may loose this battle. > -change directory -> cd C:\Windows\System\Iosubsys > -list the directory and rename any audio hardware driver > file(s). > > Reboot and cross your fingers. :) [snip] > Sort the file list by date, and the files Win98 normally > installs there will become apparent. Tried scanreg and it told me reg could not be fixed. I've had a couple of cases recently where win files were lost as a result of possible corruption. Should have switched disks at that time - serves me right :-) -- ---------------------------------------- WIN-HOME Archives: http://PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM/archives/WIN-HOME.html Contact the List Owner about anything: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Official Win-Home List Members Profiles Page http://www.besteffort.com/winhome/Profiles.html
