I would definitely remove one or other of the wireless cards.  Unless 
you can positively ensure that one cannot transmit at the same time 
as the other is receiving.

The reception will improve if you remove one of them anyway.

Your description of fighting each other is apt !  Because of the very 
close proximity (Antenna wise) they will tend to jam each other.  In 
addition to degrading the RF front end of the receiver.  Its probable 
that the intermittent effects that you are noticing are due to this !

FWIW Ask any radio ham about the effects of an RF source in the 
general proximity to TV sets, for example !!
