Uninstalled or upgraded software frequently leaves behind things in the
registry that point to files that no longer exist. Since those registry
entries are never referenced, they cause no harm other than taking up a
smidgen of hard drive space that you'll never miss.

Good question!! I downloaded one of those free Registry clean up programs
on a lark and it found over 300 "errors". Many of the errors were broken
links. I didn't make any changes, but I got to thinking that maybe I should

get a good registry tune up program to scan and maybe make some changes if
they seemed reasonable. Maybe this isn't a good idea?

Thanks to those who made recommendations.
