I don't know any 6 yr olds that are doing computer networking whether wired or not but I do agree that Eve's open authentication system that only checks for MAC addresses is sadly lacking for the very reason you stated above. MAC address locking should only be used as an adjunct to WEP or WPA & not as a stand alone security measure.

I don't see the benefit of using it as an adjunct, since any hacker
capable of breaking through WPA/WEP can certainly break through MAC address security.
Security issues are not absolute, they should fit the environment.
Are the windows in your house protected by unbreakable steel grates?
Didn't think so. This means any determined burglar can break a
window and get in, regardless of how good the lock on your
front door is.
To me, using WEP/WPA in a quiet residential neighborhood is
like installing steel grates on your home's windows.
It's overkill. But if you don't trust your immediate neighbors,
and you think they will hack your WiFi network, by all means
use WEP/WPA instead of MAC security.
