I don't like to either... but she is new at the game (as evidenced by changing
her email address to one at the domain, when she doesn't control the DNS
records.)
I like to keep my DNS separate from the hosting and separate from the
registration... I don't always succeed, in part because some of the domains are
parked and forwarded... and the registrar works great for that and is free. (I
use zoneedit for the ones I need to control.)
I do have some names registered at 1and1 - I should move them as the card I
used was replaced after one of the card services leaks a few months back... I
don't want them pulling my accounts and closing my hosting - then turning it
over to a UK collection agency. <g> It's worth an extra $3 a year per domain to
have all at godaddy - all in one account so I can view them together. When my
free 1and1 account expires, I'll move the hosting to a dedicated server I own.
(BTW - I'm still looking for a colo in Ohio - preferably Cleveland or Toledo
area - if anyone knows of one.)

This is exactly why I never register a domain name with the place I'm
hosting my websites.
