Yes I can understand that. I opened my VHS to clean out a piece of 2 inch broken tape and lubricated the gear and capstan mechs with vasiline jelly and cleaned the head with rubbing alcohol on a q-tip swab and I noticed a small 3 x 4 inch IC board with little silver TV RF mod box attached to it on the left rear side where the cable RF in an out connectors are.
This cleared up the wow, snow, flutter, smearing and ghosting a bit more. I need to teak the capstans just a bit more to tension the tape just a bit where its taunt just enough to stay smooth on the head but not streach across it and break. It works the same way like my ATI AIW 9600 Pro card does except you are using the client software to capture the RF video stream from the cable through the card onto the HD unit into a mpeg-2 file. Another difference is that the TV card converts the analog RF signal into digital encoding it to mpeg-2. -----Original Message----- From: Windows Home/SOHO [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Rick Glazier Sent: Wednesday, October 26, 2005 4:45 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: HDTV Broadcast 2006 (was RE: Music Downloads and DRM in general) Mixed in... They converted the UHF signals to something that a VHF TV could use... You might compare it to something like the way a "modern" VHS recorder takes UHF (and VHF) and puts it all on channel 3 or 4...
