There is an option in google's settings to open them in a new window.

Agree & even tho I don't FireFox I just enter my Google searches on
the address bar with gl & the search phrase. I do wish that when one
clicks a link in Google it would open a new browser window instead
putting it in the Google window, just in case the link I clicked on
is not what I wanted. Yes, I almost always right click & select Open
in a New Window instead.
