1. Has anyone an experience with the Gigabyte K8U?
I was asked by a friend to suggest a computer in the rather cheap regime,
and thought of this motherboard. It is based on the ULi chip which got a
very good review on Anandtech (the chip).
I found very little on the board itself.
2. In this motherboard's manual, it is mentioned:
1 AGP slot: supports AGP 4x/8x (compatible with AGP3). supports 1.5volts
display cards only.
As far as I know, AGP3 standard require 0.8 volts, so it is not clear to
me about the meaning of the 1.5V requirement on an AGP3 compatible mobo.
In fact, I wish to know if using a standard AGP display card, based on
FX5200 or ATI 9250/9200, would be compatible, and whether they'd work as
AGP2 (4x) or as AGP3 (8X). On those display cards's manuals nothing is
mentioned about operating voltages.
