OK. Configure explorer to show all hidden files and show file extensions.
Still I use iTunes despite the despicable fact that Apple's protecting its legal
interests with iTunes in its favor.

I don't use Anapod but there are still a lot of good iPod file managers out
there. ;)

Well I wish it was that simple. The girlfriends iPod shows up as
a removable drive alright, but none of the music shows up that
way. It could be that she doesn't have explore set up to show
hidden or system files, but it is HER computer so I can't play
with it. The only things that show up are an e-card thing and a
calender or some such nonsense. No music files are shown.

That's why we were looking for a more user friendly solution. We
found Anapod, Copypod and ephPod; but were hoping for a
recommendation based on experience. Anapod sounds good, but the
trial is too crippled to tell if it will do what is needed.

It may not be all iTunes fault as she has multiple applications
for burning and ripping fighting over who does what, but from
what I've read iTunes does more to protect Apple's interests
than the iPod user's.

So is anyone using Redchair Software's Anapod?
