THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM!

If it's so intermittent then you should be able by process of elimination [eg: disable AVG] determine what is causing the problem when it does occur. Try isolating what is different about both systems when the problem occurs & also what is the same about both systems at that time as well. Even after all this back & forth I still don't understand how the LAN is setup which makes it very difficult to assist you but I could be like some others & not bother since there is not enough info.

If you don't mind I have to go back & try to figure out what the wife meant with her last comments to me. I'll get back to you if & when I do.

It's not that I didn't bother, Walter. Often it's that I didn't think to do it. That's why I ask for troubleshooting suggestions.

If you truly want assistance & you truly have a problem then you MUST slow down & record everything you can about the 2 systems & then compare them. If that doesn't bring the problem to light then relay the everything that you recorded to us so that we may help you in the most efficient & expeditious manner. Not only is time precious to you but to many of us here as well.

Intermittently. What if the DoS was done in bursts?

You need to Google DoS if you think that's the problem but by the very nature of DoS it is an attack on a server from hundreds if not thousands of places simultaneously & continuos NOT in bursts. If it was in bursts then how could one guarantee blocking the server being attacked ? They could NOT the attack would be a complete waste of time.
