It detected the new HD, but would not boot from it. I could be wrong about the new HD being bootable. I attempted to make a bootable copy of the HD on my HP notebook.
I think I might try to restore to factory default and see what happens. If I put the new HD in, maybe I can boot to the XP cd. In each case I have had to resort to booting from a floppy disk and then wiping the HDD before I could get the machine to boot from the CD drive. I even tried an external USB CD drive on one machine without success, even though it happily booted from a USB floppy drive. Don't know about the machine not recognising a new hard drive though !! All the ones I have played with simply auto detected it, including the external USB HDD/CD/floppy drive. -- ---------------------------------------- The WIN-HOME mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software.
