Thanks for all the suggestions.
I finally made my Linux CD, & I liked the geeky approach (explaining what it
did/found during start-up, etc).
It saw the 2 partitions on the target hard disk OK, but was unable to read
the former C: partition (NTFS), so it looks like the disk can be wiped &
re-formatted, just in case it's re-usable.
