I refuse to give that video card another chance.

Just like AMD CPUs & mombos other than ASUS that would cost you & your clients less. It's no wonder Dell is the leader. I thought mom/pop shops were suppose to be about giving the client the best value for the dollar but I guess that's not so in all instances.

A video card burnout due to overheating may have caused the motherboard failure. I will not risk a hundred dollar motherboard on an old video card that has a sticky fan.

I've rebuilt many a system with a burned out mombo & have always replaced the existing video card with no ill effects. Why add more expense onto the client especially if you want them to come back?

What happens if the client's son burns so many CDs on the hottest day of year in a house with no AC & the mombo gives up the ghost? That would have nothing to do with the video card or the ps. I only charge for the one bad component & not all the components that I tried until I got the right one. I do notify the client that other components have been unduly stressed therefore their life span may have been reduced but certainly don't build them nearly a whole new machine unless of course they want one.

Since I had the machine a part I always clean the other components while I'm at it as an added service & I do not charge for the added service even tho I list it on the invoice so the client can clearly see to what extra extent I go to in order to give them the best value for the money even if it's just a repair.
