Recently I have been installing XP pro on a few rebuilds and it's a pain when I have to wait for
Time Zone, Language, Currency etc. choices.

Never bothered my previously but I now feel it's becoming a chore. I see a lot about unattended
installs and wondered how to effect this.

<http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/> & if you Google "unattend" you'll find many more resources.

Another quirk I find , and perhaps Wayne can answer this, why does BartXP or XPPE boot a machine from the CD yet a USB Hdd that has windows pulled from another computer, or come to that any Hdd
with an XP installation from another computer always FAILS to boot?

XpPe is designed to run without a swapfile & has many drivers included while the registry is built on the fly by PEBuilder but not so when copied from a HD. Either of these could stop you in your tracks when trying to boot from an external HD. If you want to boot on many different systems then install Bart or XpPe to the external HD. Bart has even included a plugin for installing to HD. I don't know if Bart's HD plugin hard codes the drive letter or not when installing to HD as it was NOT designed for external HDs but rather to as a replacement for Recovery Console. Can one burn an ISO to a external HD via Nero or some other burning app ? ;-) FWIW I still have NOT been able to get BartPE to run from a USB thumb drive at all & would think that the issues would be very similar. If Nero could burn to an external usb [non-optical] drive I would've done that to install XpPe to a USB thumb drive. :-(

The forums at 911cd.net <http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?s=1a2165bb7125c4ddf6fcdd00da4e1b7a&showforum=30> are very good source for more info if you can wade thru the silly questions. I find the nOObs annoying because it seems that almost none of them learn how to use the search feature & most of their questions have been answered literally years ago but it's still useful. Maybe I'm getting cantankerous in my old age. Ok, so there is no maybe about it, so there. :-P
