WindowsXP has a default limit of 4GB of RAM, not 3GB. The OS
reporting 3GB+ of RAM when 4GB are installed is a display bug only.
Windows will still allow use of the full 2GB OS and 2GB APPS.

The /3GB switch is only required on computers that contain mailbox
stores or public folder stores. This switch is not recommended on
computers that do not have mailbox stores or public folder stores.
This can come in handy when working with large videos or so I've been
told & that's the only reason I brought it up. I didn't mean to start
something. For more info on video processing one can see

Since Chuck isn't working with more than 4g even tho he's working
with Intel processors is why I didn't bring up /PAE although he may
want to research /PAE in relationship with DEP since he works with
Intel processors only & every one knows they never burn up. ;-)
I am surprised that an A+ certified technician that has put down
kitchen table builders doesn't know more about Dual Channel memory. I
would've thought for efficiency sake he would be building machines
with dual 256s or 512s. Heck Intels can't keep up with AMDs now as it
is & to restrict a machine to single channel memory can only retard a
slower machine even more. It may cost the builder an extra $10 but
what the heck the end luser will never know the difference.
